Why is virginity such a big deal?

I was extremely happy when I finally lost mine in a way that meant - yeah, baby, I'm a man!

Is it different for women?

I  have a 17 year old employee who is adamant that she will keep hers till she's married. I have a 16 year old employee (girl) who would probably jump in the back seat with anyone who asked. Any one of the teenage boys that work for me would be more than happy to provide the '67 Chevy.

Have we really not made any progress in 40 something years?

And I have  teenage sons, and a 9 year old daughter... what do I tell them? Don't do as I did, don't play doctor, don't experiment, don't feel this incredible rush through your body....

But at the same time, I can't say, OK, take your clothes off and run naked down the street...

Jeeze! Being a parent means being your parents and telling your children, don't be like me....
