or maybe not...

The United States has less than three percent of the world's oil reserves, consumes a quarter of global oil production, and today imports more than half of its oil needs. Crude oil prices are rising as fast as my eldest son's fever, and regular unleaded is now over $2.40 a gallon around the corner at our neighborhood Exxon. Can you say train wreck waiting to happen?

So, what is the Bush administration's answer? Let's see if we can pump a few million barrels out of one of the last pristine wilderness places left to not only Americans, but the world community - Alaska. Hey, nobody lives there but a few birds and grizzle bears. Let's make the United States increasingly dependent on oil from an unstable middle East and screw our own backyard - oops,  environment.

Alternative energy? What's that?!
