Depleted Uranium
I was researching something this evening and stumbled across the Conference on Health and Environmental Consequences of Depleted Uranium used by U.S. and British forces in the 1991 Gulf War
Did you know in the war against Iraq in 1991 allied forces used 630,000 pounds of depleted uranium? Wonder how many tons were added to that figure last year? Think we'll have Gulf War Syndrome II?
What do you suppose the health effects of exposure to depleted uranium might be? This study indicates an increase in different types of cancer cases from 1991 through 1997 in those who were exposed to explosions in the battle field including lymphomas, leukemias, lung cancer, and brain cancer (and the one no guy wants to think of: testicular.)
Here's a graph showing cancer cases that were registered from the year 1991-1997 to military participants that were exposed to a depleted uranium explosion.

How does the depleted uranium get into the body? Dust or aerosol as a result of the explosion of a depleted uranium weapon in the field may be transmitted directly to the human body through the respiratory system or gastrointestinal system or contaminate wounds directly or through contaminated shrapnel.
Seems the unintended consequence of killing other people is we also kill ourselves.
