"What the caterpillar calls the end of life, wise men call a butterfly."
byte me!
I'm only going to waste a few bits on this, but one of the cook books I picked up today is "The Settlement Cook Book"...
First printed in 1901, it contains a few generations of Wisconsin culinary wisdom. What intrigued me was the chart in the beginning:
A dash: 8 drops
1 teaspoon: 60 drops
1 bushel: 4 pecks
1 peck: 8 quarts
1 dram: 1/16 ounce
and so on....
I have no idea what kuchen and torten are but I find the idea of old-fashioned strudels totally worth trying.. I love used book stores and really old cook books!
