If I don't die by Thursday, I'll be roaring Friday night.
I just have one more question today, "If the 'War on Terror' has been such a success, can you imagine failure?"
This is how much success we've had so far:
* George W. Bush needs a Praetorian guard of Americans to keep him safe in Kabul.
* Elsewhere in Afganistan, the warlords are back in business, the opium poppies are blooming, heroin is once again a mushrooming export and the country has almost the same level of corruption and dysfunction that brought about the rise of the Taliban in the first place.
* In Iraq, don't drink the water, hospitals lack medicine and basic equipment, the oil pipline that was supposed to bring cash into the country to help rebuild it is blown up on a regular basis, attacks come from just about everyone in the region who has an axe to grind with the US, and US companies awarded huge sums of taxpayers dollars are hiring the cheapest sub-contractors they can find to do shoddy work.
* In the US, nobody sees the bodies come home and casualty figures aren't released, Rumsfeld asks for metrics on whether we're killing more terrorists than are being recruited, and hundreds of billions of dollars are being sent overseas while the US is facing its largest deficit ever.
As for all those reasons for going to war in Iraq... well, good night, sleep tight. I hope you enjoyed the bedtime fairytale George W. read you.
