If I don't die by Thursday, I'll be roaring Friday night.
July 24, 2003
Went through most of the business cards I collected from my days in the dot com era. From a stack about 10 inches high it was winnowed down to about an inch. Web site after web site was either closed or redirected to something else.
Sent off a few emails that were responded to! Guess there's hope for the human race after all. A couple of them are of the sort that need to be responded to in a thoughtful manner. Be careful about the knee jerk reaction to hit the Reply button.
Got on the phone today as well. I haven't done that in a while. It was good to hear voices from the past and to know that at least some people have found niches to ride out the storm. Some numbers are now in the hands of strangers - not sure I'll be able to track down what happened to the people that used to have them. But I'll try.
The 'To Do' list grew today on the easel. I haven't had a list on anything other than a Palm Pilot in ages, but there's something so easy about grabbing the pen and jotting down a note. And the list will be the first thing I see tomorrow when I open the door.
Read someone else's blog today pointing out that IE7 will only be bundled with M$'s new operating system. So much for all those millions they spent telling the court that Explorer is seperate. It gave me incentive to download Mozilla 1.4 and give it a try - not bad. It didn't crash on me; granted I haven't tried to stress it yet.
The job-ideas notebook got new entries as well. Decidedly low tech. - a spiral pad and a no. 2 pencil.
So between me, the notebook computer on the desk, the spiral notebook on the drafting table, and the easel behind - I think we, and the cell phone, are ready to rock-n-roll.
